PM Elaborates on How Technology and Strategic Decision-Making Will Foster India’s Vision for Creating New Singapores

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an exclusive interview with NDTV, unveiled plans to revamp bureaucracy and streamline decision-making processes to leverage technology for the effective implementation of major initiatives. He highlighted the utilization of technology for comprehensive surveys of India’s approximately 1,300 islands as a prime example.

During the conversation with NDTV’s Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Pugalia, Prime Minister Modi underscored the significance of this technological advancement, stating, “India possesses around 1,300 islands, yet we lacked comprehensive records or surveys of these territories. Leveraging space technology, we conducted extensive surveys, revealing that some islands rival the size of Singapore. This underscores that for India, replicating the success of Singapore is within reach if we harness the potential.”

The Prime Minister emphasized ongoing efforts to reform bureaucratic operations and decision-making frameworks for the effective execution of schemes. He acknowledged Singapore’s transformation into a global economic powerhouse and noted the potential for similar infrastructural and technological advancements in India.

Responding to Mr. Pugalia’s query regarding anticipated developments in infrastructure and development, Prime Minister Modi affirmed, “Significant transformations are on the horizon.”

Elaborating on the government’s initiatives, the Prime Minister articulated a vision for a “digital embassy” and underscored the transformative potential of the ongoing digital revolution. He emphasized the role of digital empowerment in bridging socioeconomic disparities, asserting India’s potential to lead in Artificial Intelligence and data-driven innovation.

Addressing the accessibility of online services, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the affordability of internet access in India, particularly contrasting it with global trends. He emphasized the proliferation of over 5 lakh common service centers across India, extending digital services even to rural communities, thereby fostering citizen-centric initiatives.

Prime Minister Modi elucidated his governance philosophy, encapsulated by “P2G2” – Pro People Good Governance, underscoring the government’s commitment to citizen-centric policies. He shared an anecdote about a conversation with Nobel laureate Professor Paul Romer, emphasizing India’s digital infrastructure prowess showcased through innovations like DigiLocker, which garnered international recognition for its efficiency.
