PM Modi Accuses Opposition of Using Secularism as Cover for Communal, Caste-Based Politics

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has countered the Opposition’s accusation of engaging in communal politics by highlighting what he perceives as communal, casteist, and vote-bank driven tactics within their own ranks. Speaking to NDTV’s Editor-in-Chief Sanjay Pugalia, PM Modi expressed his resolve to unveil what he considers as the opposition’s flaws regardless of whether he’s labeled communal or not.

Emphasizing his motto of “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (Together with All, Development for All), PM Modi reiterated his commitment to inclusive governance, where benefits are distributed without regard to community, caste, or favoritism.

He stressed on the principle of “100 per cent” saturation in social welfare, asserting that true social justice and secularism leave no room for grievances. PM Modi cited the example of the scheme to provide free vegetables to 80 crore people, highlighting that distribution is done without any discrimination.

PM Modi criticized the opposition for exploiting issues like SC/ST and OBC reservations for electoral gains, accusing them of promoting divisive tactics under the guise of secularism. He expressed his intention to expose what he sees as the opposition’s communal agenda.

In a broader discussion, PM Modi dismissed claims that the NDA would seek to amend the constitution with a majority exceeding 400 seats. He clarified that the NDA, under BJP leadership, has consistently secured over 400 seats, refuting any correlation between seat count and constitutional changes. He attributed the opposition’s reluctance to the desire to disrupt parliamentary proceedings rather than genuine concerns about constitutional integrity.
